KampalaSnap — Community Guidelines
Effective date: 2026-06-09 Last updated: 2026-06-10
KampalaSnap is for everyone — buyers, sellers, service providers, and creators — who want to trade and discover safely. These guidelines keep the platform useful and trustworthy. Following them is part of our Terms of Service; breaking them is grounds for content removal or account action.
If you see something that breaks these rules, report it in the app (every product, listing, service profile, video, post, profile, and review has a Report option), or email support@kampalasnap.com.
These rules apply equally to:
- Catalog products (the escrow-protected catalog)
- Direct-contact shop listings (listings buyers reach via WhatsApp / Call, off-platform payment)
- Service profiles (photographers, plumbers, mechanics, tutors, etc. — also direct-contact)
- Creator content in the affiliate program, live shopping, and the video feed
Where rules behave differently on a specific surface, we say so.
1. Be honest
- List what you actually have. Photos should be of the actual product or your actual work. Descriptions should match the item the buyer will receive. Stock photos only for new, factory-sealed goods that exactly match.
- Price it honestly. No fake "was" prices. No bait-and-switch where the listed price is meaningless and the real price comes out only after the buyer contacts you.
- Reviews must reflect real experience. Buying or selling reviews, rating your own listings, or pressuring buyers into 5-stars are all grounds for removal.
- Describe services accurately. Don't claim credentials, licenses, or affiliations you don't hold. Don't promise outcomes you can't deliver.
2. Be respectful
- Treat buyers, sellers, service providers, and our support team like human beings. Disagreements happen; abuse is not allowed.
- No harassment, threats, slurs, or hate speech in messages, reviews, posts, comments, or anywhere else.
- No publishing other people's personal information without their consent. This includes phone numbers, home addresses, photos taken without permission, or anything that could put someone at risk.
- No bullying — including coordinated review-bombing, fake reports, or organised campaigns against a specific seller or service.
3. Keep it legal
You can't list, sell, promote, advertise, or offer:
- Counterfeit goods or unauthorised replicas
- Stolen items
- Recreational drugs, prescription medicines, or controlled substances
- Firearms, ammunition, knives intended as weapons, or other arms
- Sexual content or sexual services
- Live animals except small pets in the appropriate category and only where the relevant law permits the sale
- Government documents, IDs, passports, or anything used to falsify identity
- Cryptocurrency, financial securities, or investment opportunities
- Money-transfer or remittance services
- Anything else illegal under the law of your country or the buyer's country
If you're not sure whether something is allowed, ask us before listing it. We'd rather answer a question than remove a listing.
4. No spam, no manipulation
- Don't post the same product, video, or service repeatedly to game discovery.
- Don't use multiple accounts to evade restrictions or manipulate ratings.
- Don't fill descriptions with unrelated keywords to surface in unrelated searches.
- Don't post chain messages or pyramid schemes.
- For catalog (escrow) orders specifically: don't push buyers off-platform during a paid escrow flow to avoid the platform fee. Doing so voids both buyer protection and seller protection and is grounds for shop removal.
- Don't pretend to be a verified seller, an admin, or another user.
5. Photos and videos
Content you upload should:
- Show the actual product, service, or work (your inventory, your portfolio, your shop).
- Be appropriate. No nudity, no graphic violence, no content intended primarily to shock.
- Respect other people. Don't upload photos of people without their consent, especially children.
- Not infringe copyright. Don't use stock photos you don't have rights to. Don't reuse another seller's photos as your own — even if you sell the same product.
Live videos (LiveDrops, live shopping) are subject to the same rules. Our moderation team can end a livestream that breaks them.
6. Buying responsibly
6.1 On catalog (escrow) orders
- Read the description and seller's policies before paying.
- Use the delivery PIN correctly — never share it until the item is in your hand and you're satisfied.
- Raise disputes for genuine problems within the 72-hour window.
- Don't use the dispute process to extract refunds for items you actually received and want to keep.
- Pay for your orders. Repeatedly placing orders you don't follow through on damages sellers and is grounds for restrictions.
6.2 On direct-contact listings and services
- Treat sellers and providers fairly when you reach them on WhatsApp or by phone — same rules as any business conversation.
- Be aware that direct payments are between you and them — we don't process or refund them. For higher-value items prefer the catalog escrow option where one exists.
- Don't ghost a provider after confirming work — give a polite cancellation if your plans change.
7. Selling responsibly
- Respond to buyer messages within 48 hours.
- Ship within the stated lead time. If you're delayed, message the buyer.
- If you can't fulfil an order, refund promptly — don't make the buyer raise a dispute first.
- Treat negative reviews as feedback, not personal attacks. Replying to reviews is fine; harassing reviewers is not.
- Honor the delivery zones and fees you've configured. Don't surprise-charge buyers on arrival.
- For direct-contact listings: be upfront about price, payment method, delivery, and return policy in your shop description. Buyers have less protection on those listings and rely on the clarity you provide.
8. Service providers
- Be straight about your skills, your equipment, and the work you've actually done.
- Show up on time for booked appointments.
- Hold any occupational licenses or insurance required where you operate.
- Handle payment off-platform fairly — agree the price upfront, give a clear receipt, don't change the scope mid-job to extract more money.
9. Creators and the affiliate program
Creators promoting affiliate products must:
- Disclose the affiliate relationship when promoting products in videos, posts, or live shopping.
- Only promote products they have direct knowledge of or that are visibly in the catalog. Don't invent product attributes.
- Not generate fake views, likes, or engagements on their own affiliate content.
Sellers in the affiliate program must:
- Honor the commission rate they set, in full, on every confirmed affiliate order.
- Not contact affiliate creators off-platform to renegotiate commissions on already-promoted products.
10. What happens when guidelines are broken
We respond proportionally:
- First-time minor issue (unclear description, accidental duplicate listing): we contact you and ask you to fix it.
- Pattern of minor issues or a single significant issue (fake reviews, prohibited product, harassment): content removed, possible temporary suspension.
- Severe issue (fraud, illegal items, doxxing, threats): permanent account removal. We may also report to the appropriate authorities.
You can appeal any action by emailing support@kampalasnap.com
with the subject line Appeal — [your username]. We respond within
14 days.
11. Reporting
Every screen with user content has a Report button:
- Product / listing detail → three-dot menu → Report
- Service profile → three-dot menu → Report
- Video → three-dot menu → Report
- User profile → three-dot menu → Report
- Reviews and posts → three-dot menu → Report
Reports are reviewed within 48 hours. We don't tell the reported party who reported them. If you reported in error, you don't need to do anything — we review and dismiss.
12. Our commitments
We commit to:
- Responding to reports within 48 hours
- Telling you why action was taken on your account, unless legally prevented
- Letting you appeal moderation decisions
- Holding payment in escrow on catalog orders until they're resolved
- Following our published Disputes Policy on catalog disputes
- Protecting your personal information per our Privacy Policy
13. Updates
These guidelines may change as the platform grows. For material changes (new prohibited categories, changes to the moderation process) we notify active users in the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
